1. 297/6 vs Bangladesh

Sanju Samson took flight and slammed his maiden T20I century as India powered to 297 for 6, their highest-ever T20I score and the second-highest overall, just behind Nepal’s 314 for 3.

Samson slammed 111 from just 47 balls and got excellent support from Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed 75 off 35 balls. This massive total ensured India clinched a 3-0 series sweep, with Bangladesh falling short by 133 runs.

2. 283/1 vs South Africa

Tilak Varma (120* off 47) and Sanju Samson (109* off 56) delivered record-breaking performances to propel India to a commanding 135-run victory over South Africa in the fourth T20I in Johannesburg.

After choosing to bat, the pair stitched together an electrifying 210-run partnership, leading India to a formidable total of 283/1—setting a India’s best T20 score overseas.

3. 260/5 vs Sri Lanka

In December 2017, India set a massive total of 260/5 against Sri Lanka in Indore. This marked India’s highest score in T20 cricket. This high-scoring match saw India’s top-order batsmen dominate the game.

Rohit Sharma led the charge with a spectacular 118 off just 43 balls, featuring 12 fours and 10 sixes. KL Rahul also contributed significantly with a quickfire 89 off 49 balls. The duo’s partnership laid a solid foundation for India’s colossal total.

Sri Lanka, in their chase, struggled to keep up with the required rate, eventually falling short by 88 runs.

4. 244/4 vs West Indies

In August 2016, India achieved their second highest total in T20Is in a losing cause. Hosts West Indies posted a total of 245/6 batting first, in reply to which India gave a brilliant fight but fell short by just 1 run.

KL Rahul played an unforgettable knock, scoring 110 not out off 51 deliveries, including 12 fours and 5 sixes. The Indian innings was also bolstered by contributions from Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, who both scored briskly.

5. 240/3 vs West Indies

In December 2019, India amassed 240/3 against the West Indies at Wankhede Stadium. The Indian innings was powered by a stunning display from the top order, with Rohit Sharma scoring 71 off 34 balls and KL Rahul adding 91 off 56 balls.

Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 70 off 29 balls ensured a commanding total. The West Indies, despite a spirited effort, couldn’t match India’s explosive batting and fell short by 67 runs, handing India a comfortable victory.

6. 237/3 vs South Africa

In October 2022, India scored 237/3 against South Africa in Guwahati. The Indian innings was highlighted by Suryakumar Yadav’s quickfire 61 off 22 balls and KL Rahul’s solid 57 off 28 balls.

Their aggressive batting, supported by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, helped India post an imposing total. South Africa’s chase was hampered by regular wickets, and they could not build the momentum needed to threaten India’s total, resulting in a 16-run win for the hosts.

7. 235/4 vs Australia

In November 2023, India set a challenging total of 235/4 against Australia in Thiruvananthapuram. The Indian innings was spearheaded by openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Contributions from other batsmen, including a half century from Suryakumar Yadav, propelled India to the imposing score. Australia, despite a valiant effort, fell behind the required run rate and couldn’t recover, giving India a convincing victory by 44 runs. 

8. 234/4 vs New Zealand

In February 2023, India achieved a formidable total of 234/4 against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Shubman Gill played a scintillating knock, scoring an unbeaten 126 off 63 balls. His innings, featuring 12 fours and 7 sixes, was well supported by Rahul Tripathi and Suryakumar Yadav.

New Zealand’s response was lacklustre as they struggled to keep up with the high required rate, resulting in a comprehensive 168-run win for India.  

9. 228/5 vs Sri Lanka

In January 2023, India scored 228/5 against Sri Lanka in Rajkot. Suryakumar Yadav stole the show with a magnificent 112 not out off 51 balls, with 7 fours and 9 sixes. His aggressive innings was the cornerstone of India’s total.

Sri Lanka, in their chase, faced early setbacks and couldn’t build any significant partnerships, succumbing to the pressure of the chase and being bowled out for just 137 runs, giving India a 91-run win.

10. 225/7 vs Ireland

In June 2022, India posted 225/7 against Ireland in Dublin. Deepak Hooda’s brilliant 104 off 57 balls was the highlight of the innings, supported by Sanju Samson’s 77 off 42 balls.

11. 224/2 vs England

In March 2021, India amassed 224/2 against England in Ahmedabad. The innings was anchored by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 80 off 52 balls and contributions from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.

The aggressive batting display set a challenging target for England. In response, England’s innings couldn’t gain the momentum needed, and they were unable to chase down the target, falling short by 36 runs.

12. 222/3 vs Australia

In November 2023, India scored 222/3 against Australia in Guwahati. The innings was powered by an explosive 123 off 57 balls from Ruturaj Gaikwad. His innings, studded with 13 fours and 7 sixes, was the highlight of the match.

Contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma helped India set a daunting target. Australia began the chase on a poor note but a century from Glenn Maxwell took them to a win. Maxwell was absolutely sensational, having scored an unbeaten 104 from 48 balls at a strike rate of 216.66. One of the highest score of India in T20 came in a losing cause.

13. 221/9 vs Bangladesh

India took advantage on a sloppy effort from Bangladesh in the field, especially their spinners to stage a stunning turnaround from a 41/3 in the sixth over.

Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh added power in the middle overs and Hardik Pandya provided the final flourish as India ended with 221 in the 20 overs – one of the best turnaround. . 

14. 219/6 vs South Africa

Tilak Varma’s maiden T20I century powered India to a crucial 11-run victory, sealing an unassailable 2-1 lead ahead of the final T20I in Johannesburg on November 15.

On Wednesday, Varma teamed up with Abhishek Sharma (50 off 25) for a blistering PowerPlay partnership, setting the tone for India’s total of 219/6.
