Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23: Complete schedule, teams, match timings and live streaming details

India’s premier domestic T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will start on Tuesday, October 11. This edition will see India’s brightest stars in the domestic setup lock horns over the next few weeks. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy finale is slated to be held on Saturday, November 5.

Tamil Nadu are the defending champions of the tournament and will once again be one of the favourites to clinch the title. As far as the numbers are concerned, Tamil Nadu enter the tournament as the most successful team in the history of the competition. They have been champions on three occasions. 

It is a marquee tournament since it is the perfect scouting ground for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. Several uncapped state-level cricketers get the chance to grab the attention of IPL scouts ahead of the IPL auctions that will take place towards the end of the year. 

What is the format of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23?

There are 38 teams that are divided into five groups. The winners of these groups will make it to the quarter-final while the second-placed teams and the side that is ranked 11th overall will lock horns with one another in order to make it to the semi-finals. 

There will be a total of 126 matches that will be played in the tournament. It will take place in six cities across India in Lucknow, Jaipur, Mohali, Rajkot, Indore. The knockout matches will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and the final will be played on November 5.

Elite A: Assam, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Railways, Vidarbha, Uttarakhand
