Kolkata Knight Riders will be facing Punjab Kings today in the 8th match of Tata IPL 2022 at Wankhede stadium from, 7:30 pm onwards. In the prior match of KKR, the team lost the game by 3 wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Whereas, Punjab Kings maneuvered a fantastic game in their first match of the season against RCB.
Currently, both the teams aced 1 victory each in their pocket with KKR ranking in the fourth position on the points table, while Punjab Kings reigning at third on the same. There had been 29 matches between these teams in the previous seasons of IPL, out of which Kolkata Knight Riders have won 19 matches and Punjab Kings have won 10 matches.
In this season, KKR’s skippers have displayed mind-blowing gameplay and the captain Shreyas Iyer seems to be an ideal long-term option as a leader. Venkatesh Iyer is expected to be another asset for the team, as the all-rounder has escalated to the international challenges in recent times. Ajinkya Rahane scored 44 runs as an opener against CSK and proved to be a relief for the team.
On the other hand, the Punjab Kings commenced the challenge with a win and purveyed a perfect chase of over 200 runs in their first game. Kagiso Rabada may join the challenge today after completing three-day quarantine and this will certainly give a big boost to the team’s prevailing pace.
An important point to be considered is that batting at the Wankhede Stadium, where the track is comparatively fresh, is not an easy task and this was quite evident in the last two games played at the venue. However, the toss is playing a significant role in the game’s outcome because the condition of the pitch and the presence of dews in the second half of the game has turned the tables in most of the matches.
