India and Sri Lanka will face each other in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday, September 17 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The two teams recently met in the Super Four stage of the tournament, when Sri Lanka bowled brilliantly to restrict India to a small total but their batsmen were not able to chase the target.
Dimuth Wellalage picked up five wickets to help bowl out India for a total of 213 runs. Charith Asalanka also picked up four wickets. However, the Sri Lankan batsmen botched up. Apart from Dhananjaya de Silva and Wellalage, both of whom scored in 40s, no other batsman stepped up as Sri Lanka eventually lost the game by 41 runs.
India lost a solitary game in the tournament. They started their campaign with an abandoned game against Pakistan, after which they went on to defeat Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka before losing to Bangladesh.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 265 runs on the board after Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy scored half centuries. In reply, India were helped by a century from Shubman Gill but eventually fell short of the target by just six runs.
