Bangladesh and Afghanistan will play match 3 of the Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on October 7. This will be the first double header of the day, followed by a match between Sri Lanka and South Africa in the afternoon.
Bangladesh were able to win just two of their games at the Asia Cup 2023 – against Afghanistan and India, respectively. They also lost a bilateral series to Afghanistan at home earlier this year by a 1-2 margin. Before the Asia Cup, they lost 2-0 to New Zealand at home in an ODI series. Things have not been pretty good for the team off the field as Tamim Iqbal withdrew from the World Cup after a rift with the team management and skipper Shakib al Hasan. Bangladesh have a few young bowlers who can light up the stage, but their batting, despite having experienced players in its ranks, has been disappointing of late.
Afghanistan, meanwhile, defeated Sri Lanka in the warm-ups, which would give them the confidence to put up a fight against the top teams in the World Cup. The likes of Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi will be looking to give Afghanistan a strong start to their campaign.

Afghanistan nearly defeated Pakistan and India at the 2019 World Cup, so they cannot be underestimated, especially when Bangladesh have not been in good form lately. The result of the match can go either way.
