1. South Africa against Australia 

The record for the highest run chase in ODI Cricket history is held by the South African cricket team. Back in 2006 in Johannesburg, the hosts successfully chased down a target of 436 runs. A knock of 164 runs by Australian captain Ricky Ponting propelled the visitors to a first innings total of 435 runs.

In reply, Herschelle Gibbs scored a terrific knock of 175 runs. The other two South African players who registered half centuries were captain Graeme Smith and wicketkeeper Mark Boucher. The hosta chased down the target with one ball to spare.

2. South Africa against Australia 

The two teams feature on the list for the second successive time. This time, Australia scored 371 runs batting first. David Warner top scored with a knock of 117 runs while captain Steve Smith also scored a century.

Meanwhile, Aaron Finch contributed with a half century. In reply, the entire South African batting line-up chipped in with runs, with the maximum contribution coming from David Miller (118*), Quinton de Kock (70) and Hashim Amla (45). 3. England against West Indies 

This match between England and the West Indies was played in Bridgetown in 2019. Batting first, the West Indies posted a total of 360 runs on the board after Chris Gayle scored a century and Shai Hope contributed with a half century.

However, England chased down the target with more than an over to spare, thanks to centuries from Jason Roy and Joe Root, and a half century from captain Eoin Morgan. Roy’s knock was particularly impressive, as it came at a strike rate of 144.70.

India registered a comprehensive win over Australia in Jaipur in 2013. Australia scored 359 runs batting first, on the back of half centuries from Aaron Finch, Phillip Hughes, Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell and captain George Bailey. In reply, India chased down the target in only 43.3 overs as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scored a century each. Shikhar Dhawan, meanwhile, scored 95 runs. India won the match by 9 wickets.

5. England against Pakistan

In the 3rd ODI of Pakistan’s tour of England in 2019, the visitors scored 358 runs for the loss of nine wickets batting first. Nearly half of the total runs were scored by opening batsman Imam ul Haq alone. He finished with 151 off 131. In reply, England chased down the target with nearly five overs to spare. Jonny Bairstow scored a century, while Jason Roy scored a half century. Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali also contributed significantly in what was one of the highest successful run chase in ODI cricket. 

6. Australia against India

In the 4th ODI of Australia’s tour of India in 2019, the visitors successful chased down 359 runs with more than two overs to spare. 7. India against England 

When England toured India in 2017, the 1st ODI in Pune was a run fest. Batting first, England scored 350 runs for the loss of 7 wickets after Jason Roy, Joe Root and Ben Stokes scored half-centuries.

9. England against New Zealand 

In the 4th ODI of New Zealand’s tour of England in 2015, the hosts registered an impressive win. Batting first, New Zealand played a total of 349 runs for the loss of seven wickets with Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson and Grant Elliott scoring half centuries. In reply, England chased down the target in only 44 overs. Joe Root and captain Eoin Morgan scored impressive centuries to take the home team to a memorable win.

10. New Zealand against Austraila

New Zealand chased 350 runs against Austraila in 2007, which was a very interesting match. New Zealand won this match in the last over. BB McCullum scored 86 runs, which was a very important run, and they won by 1 wicket.
