Top 4 Favourites Team to Win Euro 2024
1. Spain
Spain enters the Euros as one of the in-form sides – the side has won all their 10 qualifiers under new coach Luis de la Fuente, who replaced the team following their disappointing World Cup exit. There are only a few players that remain from the world cup since de la Fuente focus have been focusing on young talents like Gavi, Pedri, and Ansu Fati.
Sixteen-year-old Lamine Yamal, Spain’s youngest ever international player, could make history as the Championships’ youngest competitor if he plays.
2. Germany
As hosts, Germany will also be one of the favourites. They have won the European title three times, the most alongside Spain – their last win was in 1996. New manager Julian Nagelsmann leads a team with experienced players that include Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan, Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rudiger, and Thomas Muller.
3. Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo, at 39, will still be a key player, although he might not at his prime. Ronaldo has scored nine goals in 10 Euro qualifying games. With 14 goals across five Euros, including a victory in 2016, his impact is undeniable.
The squad also has big stars like Joao Neves and the experienced Pepe, who, at 41, could become the oldest player in European Championship history. The defense sees players like Nuno Mendes, Joao Cancelo, and Diogo Dalot. Bruno Fernandes, prolific in the qualifiers, joins Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leao, and Diogo Jota, providing Portugal with an abundance of talent.
4. France
Kylian Mbappe had a stellar World Cup performance and this heralded a new era for French football, promising even more success. France is a side that has plenty of talent and is a strong contender for their third Euro title in 2024, having previously won in 1984 and 2000.
The squad boasts powerful strikers like Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, and Ousmane Dembele. Their defense, anchored by goalkeeper Mike Maignan and defenders Ibrahima Konate, Benjamin Pavard, Theo Hernandez, and Ferland Mendy, has only conceded three goals in qualifying.
The return of N’Golo Kante from the Saudi league adds significant depth to their midfield.
