Chess

  • Objective: The objective of the skill-based game is to cut the opponent's pieces eventually reaching to a point where a player can checkmate the opponent's 'King', that is the King cannot make any move and will definitely get cut. The chess board is set up with each player's pieces on opposite sides. The board has 64 squares, alternating between light and dark colors. Each player starts with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. All pieces have pre-assigned moves which should be memorized by the player to determine the best possible move. The goal of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, meaning that the king is under attack and cannot escape capture. For this purpose, the game requires a combination of strategic thinking, tactical awareness, pattern recognition from the players along with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Players take turns moving their pieces, starting with white. The player must tap on the piece they have to move and play a valid move with the piece they have chosen. Scoring: The game continues in a turn-based manner until a player is able to checkmate the opponent or a player runs out of time Time duration of the game: Each player is provided with 3 minutes to play their turns. The game ends on the basis of a player being able to checkmate their opponent or if a player runs out of time. The player is shown each player's turn timer. It is the total time a player is given to make their moves. The player that is able to checkmate the opponent's King wins. If no player is able to capture the King, then the player that runs out of time first loses. The aggregate contributions by all players will constitute the Prize Money Pool.
